关于老鼠在十二生肖中的古诗英语作文
The Clever Rat in the Chinese Zodiac
My name is Emily and I'm going to tell you about the rat in the Chinese zodiac. The Chinese zodiac has 12 different animals and each year is represented by a different one. The rat is the first animal in the cycle.
There's an ancient story that explains why the rat became the first animal of the zodiac. A long time ago, the Jade Emperor who ruled over heaven decided to have a race to decide how the animals would be arranged in the zodiac cycle. Whichever animals crossed the river and reached the other side first would get the highest ranking.
On the morning of the race, the rat was still fast asleep. He overslept because his night vision isn't very good and he couldn't see the sun rising. Luckily, the rat was awoken by his friend the ox who was heading to the race.
The rat asked the ox for a ride on his back across the river since rats can't swim very well.
The kind ox agreed to let the rat ride on his head. As they were crossing the river, the rat leaned down and said "Thank you for letting me ride on your back Mr. Ox. You're so big and strong!"
The ox felt proud that the little rat was praising him. But the rat was just buttering him up! When they were almost across the river, the sneaky rat jumped off the ox's head and scurried ahead to finish the race first. So by being clever and tricking the ox, the rat became the first animal of the zodiac cycle!
People who are born in the year of the rat are said to have some of the same traits as rats. They are clever, quick thinkers who are good at taking advantage of opportunities when they arise. Just like the rat in the zodiac story, they can be a bit sneaky sometimes in order to get ahead.

Rats are also hard workers who are good at saving and acquiring wealth over their lifetime. They pay close attention to details which allows them to find clever solutions to problems. However, rats can also be greedy, stubborn, and picky about things because the
y like to hoard things like food.
In Chinese culture, the rat is seen as a sign of fertility and wealth because rats give birth to lots of offspring very quickly. Marriages in the year of the rat are considered lucky. Rats are the guardians of granaries and wealth, which is why you'll sometimes see rat statues in businesses as they are thought to bring prosperity.
My favorite part about the rat zodiac story is the clever way the rat outsmarts the ox to win the race. I think it's funny how the rat butters up the ox by calling him strong only to trick him at the last minute! If I was the ox I would have been so mad at the rat. But you have to admire the rat's cleverness and quick thinking.
The rat reminds me of some kids at school who are really smart and find sneaky ways to get out of doing work or responsibility. Like how sometimes they'll say the dog ate their homework, when really their homework is just stuffed inside their backpack because they didn't do it. Just like the clever rat, they're good at making up little lies and getting what they want.
In Chinese astrology, your zodiac animal is supposed to influence your personality and life. I actually was born in the year of the rat! Sometimes I do feel like I have some rat-like qualities. I'm a hard worker who gets good grades and I like saving up my allowance money rather than spending it all at once. My mom says I can be a little sneaky sometimes though when I try to get out of doing chores.
My best friend Lily was born in the year of the ox. We definitely have some opposite personality traits based on our zodiac animals! Lily is very honest and hates lying or tricking people. She's strong-willed and loves physical activities like sports. I'm the clever trickster trying to get out of P.E., while she's the hardworking athlete. Just like in the zodiac story, I probably could trick her into giving me a ride across the river!
Overall, I really enjoy learning about the animals and stories related to the Chinese zodiac. The rat might be small, but his quick wits and cleverness allowed him to outwit much larger animals. His story shows that you don't have to be the biggest or strongest to come out on top. A little brain power and some sneakiness can go a long way! Let's hear it for the clever rat of the Chinese zodiac cycle.
