To provide the candidates with a systematic knowledge and thorough understanding of the basic theories of agricultural economics;

科研能力及创新培养等要求
1. An integral part of the student's doctoral education is sustained training in the processes of academic research. This is achieved by two primary means: research apprenticeships and active participation in doctoral seminars. Research apprenticeships with faculty members are a key component of a student's preparation for a career in research.
2. Before the international doctoral candidates submit their dissertation, they have to publish at least one research paper on a Chinese or international recognized academic journal, and complete at least two research papers or conference papers. Zhongnan University of Economics and Law should be the first author’s institution on the publications.
培养方式
The faculty advisors have the overall responsibility for their PhD students, and the following principles are to be followed in the program:
1. While the advisors have the overall responsibility for their PhD students, the program advisor group should also provide adequate guidance and supervision.
2. Theory study and practice study are both valued in the program. In addition to the course requirements set by each of the fields, all PhD students, regardless of their fields of study, are required to demonstrate a solid understanding of the basic disciplines that underlie the study of International Trade and Economics.
3. While students’ individual study activity plays a major role in the study process, research apprenticeship is encouraged.
4. Individual differences are respected and students are encouraged to take advantage of their specialties in the program. Innovation is considered as priority in academic research training.

The Agricultural and Forestry Economic Management has a strong, reasonable structure, capable of teaching and research team. There are 18 teachers, including 6 professors, 9 associate professors, 4 doctoral supervisors, 13 teachers with doctoral, with the Ministry of Finance (Academic) cross century academic leaders in 2, Hubei Province, a middle-aged expert with outstanding contribution to 1 people, high level talents in the new century, Hubei Province, 1 people, 1 people in the new century talents by the Ministry of education support program.Since 2003, the faculty commitment to the National Social Science Foundation, the National Natural Science Foundation and other national and provincial projects 4 items 6, various research projects laterally more than 20 published papers in journals all levels of state authority more than 100 papers, research topics funded nearly 700 million.

学位论文
1. International PhD candidates should submit their dissertation proposal between the fifth week of the third semester and the tenth week of the forth semester. Each candidate must pass his/her dissertation proposal defense. The defense is scheduled after the candidate successfully completes all the coursework and pass the comprehensive examination. Candidates may be granted up to an additional year to take the defense upon the approval of the School of Business Administration. Such application and approval should be filed with Graduate School at ZUEL.
2. No less than 60 pieces of Chinese and international literatures related to the student’s chosen field and dissertation should be reviewed before submitting dissertation proposal. A dissertation proposal should cover background of the research, structure of the dissertation, main argumentations, innovations, literature review, and expected problems in the research.
3. The dissertation shall demonstrate solid discipline base and profound field research ability. It summarizes the candidate’s systematic and complete academic contribution in a scholarly field. The body of the dissertation is no less than 50 000 words.
4. Both Chinese and English versions of dissertation abstract are required, but the body of the dissertation can be finished in either Chinese or English. When the dissertation is finished in English, a copy of Chinese translation should be submitted as well.
5. The Ph.D. dissertation defense committee consists of 5-7 professors including at least 2 non-ZUEL professors. The committee will decide the final result by anonymous votes.
