【About the Author】
莱曼·弗兰克·鲍姆生于1856年纽约州的一个小镇 Chittenango，他的父亲是个商人，家里很有钱。弗兰克有八个兄弟妹，他的童年很幸福。
他是一个害羞安静的男孩，他的身体不太好。他没有去上学，他在家里和老师一起学习。他喜欢读书。他最喜欢的故事是传统的欧洲童话故事，但他不喜欢其中的暴力和可怕的生物。当他44岁的时候写《绿野仙踪》的时候，他想写一个不同的童话故事。
鲍姆在成为一名成功的作家之前做了许多工作。他曾是一个记者，一个养鸡场的农民，一个推销员和演员。他管理自己的剧院，并为它写剧本。他甚至有一家商店。但他的大部分职业都以失败告终。1882年，鲍姆与莫德盖奇结婚。他们一共有四个儿子。
1897年，他以故事形式写了一本童谣书《散文中的鹅妈妈》这本书卖得很好，鲍姆决定停止工作，专心写作。1900年，他出版了伟大的《绿野仙踪》，并立即取得了成功。
鲍姆于1919年5月6日去世葬在加利福尼亚。
【About the Book】
