9THE WIZARD OF OZ
The four travellers ring the bell on the Gate.The Guardian is surprised to see them.
'You're back from the Land of the Winkies!he says.
'Yes,we are,'Dorothy says.'We want to see the Great Wizard!'
The Guardian takes them to the Palace of Oz.They eat a good dinner and go to bed early.
黑girl为什么解散There's no message from the Wizard the next day.Or the next.Or the next. The Scarecrow is angry.
'Tell the Wizard we want to see him tomorrow!'he says to the soldier with the green moustache.'Tell him we have the Golden Cap and we can call the Winged Monkeys.'
The soldier comes back with a message from the Wizard.

四个旅行者按响了大门上的铃。卫报看到他们很惊讶。
“你从温基人的土地上回来了!”他说。
“是的，我们是，”多萝西说。“我们要见伟大的巫师!”
守护神把他们带到奥芝的宫殿里。他们吃了一顿丰盛的晚餐，很早就睡觉了。
第二天，巫师没有任何消息。或者下一个。或者下一个。稻草人生气了。
“告诉巫师我们明天要见他!”他对那个绿胡子的士兵说。“告诉他我们有金冠，我们可以叫飞猴来。”
士兵带着巫师的口信回来了。
'Go to the Throne Room at nine o'clock tomorrow morning!'he says.
The next morning they meet outside the Throne Room.The soldier with the green moustache takes them in.There isn't anyone there.There's only a big screen in a corner.
Suddenly a voice says：
'I am Oz.Who are you and what do you want?'
'It's me,Dorothy,'the little girl says. 'I'm here with my friends the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman and the Lion.Do you remember your promises to us?The Witch of the West is dead so you must send me back
to Kansas.'
'And give me a brain,'the Scarecrow says.
'And give me a heart,'the Tin Woodman says.
“明天早上九点钟到王宫去!””他说。
第二天早晨，他们在王宫外会面。绿胡子的士兵收留了他们。那儿一个人也没有。只有一个大屏幕在角落里。
突然一个声音说:
“我是奥芝。你是谁?你要什么?””
“给我一个脑子，”稻草人说。
“给我一颗心，”铁皮人说。
'And give me some courage,'the Cowardly Lion says.
'I must think about it,'the voice says. 'Go away and come again tomorrow.'
'No!'the Tin Woodman says.'We can't wait any longer.'
The Lion roars loudly.Toto is frightened and jumps.His tail hits the screen and it falls over.The four friends turn their heads to look.To their surprise, they see a little old man in the corner.He is very surprised,too.
'Who are you?'the Tin Woodman says.He lifts his axe in the air.
'I am Oz,the Great Wizard,'the little old man says,'Please don't hurt me!'
'But the Wizard is a big head!' Dorothy says.
“给我一点勇气，”胆小的狮子说。
“我得想一想，”那声音说。“走吧，明天再来。”
“不!铁皮人说。“我们不能再等了。”
狮子大声吼叫。托托吓坏了，跳了起来。他的尾巴碰到了屏幕，它掉了下来。四个朋友转过头去看。令他们惊讶的是，他们看到一个小老头在角落里。他也很惊讶。
“你是谁?铁皮人说。他举起斧头。
“我是奥芝，伟大的巫师，”矮小的老人说，“请不要伤害我!”
“可是巫师是个大脑袋!”多萝西说。
'No,he's a beautiful woman with wings,'the Scarecrow says.
'No,he's a monster with five eyes, five arms and five legs,'the Tin Woodman says.
'He isn’t.He’s a ball of fire,'the Lion says.
'You are all wrong,'the man says. 'They are only tricks.'
'If you aren’t Great Wizard,who are you?'Dorothy asks.
'The People here believe that I'm the Great Wizard but I'm just a man from Omaha.'
'Omaha!That isn't very far from Kansas!'Dorothy says.
'No,it isn t,but it's very far from here,'the man replies.
The Tin Woodman asks him about his promises.
“不，他是一个长着翅膀的美丽的女人，”稻草人说。
“不，他是一个有五只眼睛、五只胳膊和五条腿的怪物，”铁皮人说。
“他不是。他是一个火球，”狮子说。

'I’m sorry,'the man says.'I can't keep my promises to you.'
'Then you're a very bad man!' Dorothy says.
'No,my dear!I'm a very good man but I'm a very bad Wizard.'
'But what about my brain?'the Scarecrow says.
'And my heart?'the Tin Woodman says.
'And my courage?'the Cowardly Lion says.
'Very well,'he says.'Come back tomorrow.'
'Can you send me back to Kansas?' Dorothy asks.
'Give me three days to think about it, 'the little man says.''Stay in my palace and enjoy yourselves.But,please!Don't tell anyone in the Emerald City about my tricks.They must be a secret between you and me.'

“给我三天时间考虑这件事，”小个子男人说。“待在我的宫殿里，好好享受吧。但是，请!不要把我的把戏告诉翡翠城的任何人。这一定是你我之间的秘密。”
